Grow lettuce, radishes, green onions, parsley, basil, and strawberries in containers, window boxes, or bed edges.

Care through the season

Container plants dry out quickly, so check them daily in warm weather and water until excess drains from the bottom. Use a quality potting mix and feed fruiting crops regularly with a container-safe fertilizer. Replant lettuce and radishes in gaps as soon as earlier rounds are harvested.

Choose compact or patio varieties of tomato, pepper, cucumber, and strawberry. Use containers with drainage holes and match pot size to the mature plant. Harvest leafy greens often to make room and keep plants productive.
