Cow-calf production is widespread in East and Central Texas, South Texas, and the western rangeland areas, while the High Plains Panhandle is a nationally important feedlot region. Fall is a major marketing season for spring-born calves, and wheat pasture supports substantial winter and spring stocker activity in parts of the state.

Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves sold 2.00 to 10.00 higher; with shots and weaned instances up to 15.00 higher. Yearlings not well tested. Demand was moderate to good. Buyers continue to show preference for weaned calves and will pay a premium for them, although vaccination status appeared to be the most important factor today as the market begins its transition into fall the fall run.
