Colorado cattle markets
Colorado participates in several parts of the beef chain, including cow-calf production, stocker grazing, and feedlot finishing. Eastern Colorado is a major feedlot region, while ranching is important on the Western Slope, in the mountain valleys, and across the eastern plains. The state's cattle markets and feedlots draw cattle from Colorado and surrounding western and plains states. Dairy feeder steers under 500 lbs traded sharply higher with most sales 15.00-30.00 higher, dairy steers over 500 lbs were too lightly tested either this week or last sale to develop an accurate market trend, steady to firm undertones were noticed.
