Growing Seven Top Turnip

Sow in early spring or, more commonly, in late summer and fall since the foliage sweetens after cool weather and light frost. Thin plants to about 2 to 4 inches apart and do not expect usable roots; the value is entirely in the leaves. Begin cutting the outer greens when leaves reach 4 to 6 inches, harvesting repeatedly, and watch for flea beetles and aphids on the foliage.
