About Vardaman
Vardaman is a compact bush-type sweet potato well suited to small gardens and containers where sprawling vines are a problem. It produces golden-yellow skin over deep orange flesh, and its young foliage often shows attractive purple tints. The short, tidy vines keep the plant in bounds while still yielding well.
Growing Vardaman Sweet Potato
Its bush habit lets you space plants closer, around 10 to 12 inches apart, and it does fine in large containers or raised beds. Give it a warm full season of roughly 100 to 110 days and consistent but not soggy moisture. Harvest before frost and cure the roots warm and humid to improve sweetness and keeping quality.
