About Centennial
Centennial is a classic bright orange sweet potato developed in Louisiana that was a leading US variety before Beauregard. It has smooth carrot-colored skin, tapered roots, and deep orange moist flesh with a sweet, mild flavor. Its earlier maturity made it a longtime favorite for gardeners in shorter-season regions.
Growing Centennial Sweet Potato
Set slips 12 to 15 inches apart in warmed, mounded, sandy-loam beds after the soil is thoroughly warm. It fits well in cooler areas because it sizes up in about 90 to 100 days. Harvest before frost, handle the roots gently to avoid skinning, and cure them warm for best flavor and storage.
