About Oregon Sugar Pod II
Oregon Sugar Pod II is a snow pea developed at Oregon State University, producing large, flat, tender pods that are eaten whole before the peas swell. It carries resistance to several pea diseases, including pea enation mosaic virus and powdery mildew. The compact vines grow to about 28 to 30 inches and frequently bear pods in pairs.
Growing Oregon Sugar Pod II Pea
The relatively short vines need only a low trellis or netting and suit small gardens well. Sow in early spring; the disease resistance also makes it a strong candidate for fall plantings where mildew pressure is high. Pick the flat pods while they are still smooth and bright, before the individual peas begin to bulge, for the most tender texture.
