About Cascadia
Cascadia is a snap pea bred at Oregon State University, with sweet, crunchy, thick-walled pods on compact vines that stay shorter than the original Sugar Snap, typically around 2.5 to 3 feet. It offers resistance to powdery mildew and pea enation mosaic virus. Its shorter habit makes it easier to support and well suited to smaller gardens.
Growing Cascadia Pea
A trellis of about 3 feet is enough for these more restrained vines, making Cascadia a good pick where space or tall structures are limited. Sow in early spring, and again for a fall crop in mild climates, taking advantage of its disease resistance. Harvest when pods are plump and rounded but still glossy and crisp for the best snap.
