About Lincoln
Lincoln, also sold as Homesteader, is an heirloom shelling pea that bears slightly curved pods packed with 6 to 9 small, very sweet peas. The compact vines grow to roughly 24 to 30 inches and show good tolerance of heat along with some wilt resistance, making them dependable in a range of conditions. It is a longtime favorite for fresh eating and freezing.
Growing Lincoln Pea
The medium vines do best with a low trellis or brush support and are sown in early spring for a late spring harvest. Its modest heat tolerance allows sowing slightly later than many peas. Harvest when pods feel full but the peas are still tender and sweet, and pick often, since the pods can be easy to overlook among the foliage.
