About White Icicle
White Icicle is an heirloom radish with a long, slender, tapering white root that resembles a small carrot or icicle. The flesh is crisp and juicy with a mild flavor that carries a slightly stronger bite than round red types. Its deep-growing shape sets it apart from the common globe radishes.
Growing White Icicle Radish
Because the roots grow long, plant in loose, deeply worked soil free of rocks and thin to about 2 inches apart. It handles warm weather somewhat better than many radishes but still does best in spring and fall. Harvest when roots are about 4 to 6 inches long and still crisp, before they turn woody.
