About Black Spanish Round
Black Spanish Round is an old heirloom winter radish with rough, coal-black skin and firm, crisp white flesh. It has a pungent, sharply spicy flavor that is much stronger than spring radishes. The dense roots store exceptionally well, making it a traditional keeper for winter use.
Growing Black Spanish Round Radish
Sow in mid to late summer for a fall harvest, thinning to about 4 inches apart to allow the round roots to size up. It requires a longer season of roughly 55 days and develops the best flavor and storage quality in cool weather. Harvest before the ground freezes and cure briefly, since the thick-skinned roots keep for months in cold, humid storage.
