About King of the North
King of the North is an open-pollinated bell pepper selected for cool, short-season climates where many bells struggle to ripen. It produces blocky, medium to large fruit that turns from green to red earlier and more reliably than most standard bells. The plants tend to be sturdy and productive even in northern gardens.
Growing King of the North Pepper
Space plants roughly 18 inches apart in full sun, and warm the soil with black plastic or a cloche in cooler regions to encourage early set. Because it is bred for shorter seasons, it is a strong pick for northern and high-elevation gardens.
