How to Store Raspberries

Raspberries are among the most delicate berries, so plan on immediate refrigeration and quick use. Gentle handling matters more than almost anything else.

Raspberries

Best storage conditions

Store at 32 to 34 F with high humidity, about 90 to 95 percent, and no direct light. Refrigeration is essential.

How long it keeps

Fresh raspberries usually keep 1 to 3 days, sometimes up to 5 days if very fresh and dry. They are not a pantry-storage fruit.

Storage methods

Do not wash until use, and store berries in a shallow single layer or very shallow container. Avoid stacking, pressing, or leaving them warm after harvest. Remove any soft or moldy berries right away.

Freezing & preserving

Freeze berries in a single layer, then pack frozen. Raspberries are also good for jams, syrups, and drying. For canning, use tested USDA or NCHFP recipes.

Tips

Harvest only dry berries if possible. Keep the container uncovered or loosely covered enough to avoid trapped condensation.
