How to Store Collard Greens
Collards are highly perishable and keep best when very cold and moist. Think short-term refrigerator storage unless you plan to freeze them.

Best storage conditions
Store at 32 to 36 F with 95 to 100 percent humidity and no direct light. Use the refrigerator crisper or another high-humidity drawer.
How long it keeps
Fresh collards usually keep 5 to 10 days. Quality drops faster if leaves are bruised or stored too dry.
Storage methods
Cool them quickly after harvest, leave unwashed until use, and wrap loosely in a damp paper towel or perforated bag. Avoid packing tightly or crushing the leaves. Room temperature storage is only for a few hours.
Freezing & preserving
Blanch and freeze for best long-term quality. Drying is less common but possible for soup greens. If canning, use tested USDA or NCHFP pressure-canning recipes because greens are low-acid.
Tips
Remove yellowing leaves as they appear. Keep away from ethylene producers like apples, pears, and tomatoes.
