About Table Queen
Table Queen is a longtime heirloom acorn squash with deeply ribbed, dark green, acorn-shaped fruits. The pale yellow-orange flesh is mild and tender, well suited to baking in the half shell. Vines are productive and it remains one of the most familiar traditional acorn types in home gardens.
Growing Table Queen Winter Squash
As an acorn type it matures relatively quickly, around 80 to 85 days, which makes it a good fit for shorter summers than butternut needs. Harvest when the ground spot turns from yellow to orange and the rind is hard, cutting before a hard frost. Acorn squash does not keep as long as thicker-rinded types, so plan to use it within a month or two, and watch for powdery mildew and vine borer.
