About Sweet Dumpling
Sweet Dumpling is a small, single-serving Cucurbita pepo squash shaped like a flattened, ribbed teacup, with ivory skin striped in green along the grooves. The tender flesh is sweet and mild, and the compact size makes each fruit ideal for stuffing and baking whole. Plants are productive, setting many small squash per vine.
Growing Sweet Dumpling Winter Squash
It matures in about 90 to 100 days, and the light fruit is small enough to grow well on a trellis. Harvest when the background color deepens from pale green toward cream or ivory and the stripes stand out clearly against a hard rind. Storage is moderate, so use the fruit within a couple of months, and watch for powdery mildew in humid weather.
