About Zephyr
Zephyr is a hybrid summer squash known for its striking two-tone fruit, yellow across the upper half with a pale green blossom end. The slender, straight squash has firm, dense flesh and a delicate, nutty flavor that holds up well when cooked. It was introduced by Johnny's Selected Seeds and grows on a productive, semi-open bush plant.
Growing Zephyr Summer Squash
Plant in full sun after frost danger has passed and space plants about 2 to 3 feet apart. Harvest at roughly 4 to 6 inches long while the skin is glossy for the firmest, sweetest fruit, and pick regularly to encourage more set. Keep an eye out for powdery mildew and common pests such as squash bugs and vine borers.
