About Heritage
Heritage is a classic everbearing (primocane-fruiting) red raspberry long favored by home gardeners for its reliability and wide adaptability. It produces medium-sized, firm, dark red berries with a pleasantly tart, well-balanced flavor that holds up well for freezing and preserves. The canes are vigorous, upright, and largely self-supporting, and the plant can yield a lighter summer crop followed by a heavier fall crop.
Growing Heritage Raspberry
For the simplest care, mow all canes to the ground in late winter and take a single large fall crop on the new primocanes. Space plants about 2 feet apart in a row with full sun and well-drained soil, and add a simple trellis or T-post support in windy sites. Harvest when berries release easily from the core, picking every couple of days once the fall crop begins.
