About Cinderella
Cinderella is the common market name for the French heirloom Rouge Vif d'Etampes, named for its resemblance to the fairy tale coach. The fruit is deeply lobed and strongly flattened with a rich red-orange rind, typically weighing 15 to 25 pounds. Beyond its ornamental value, the moderately sweet flesh is usable in soups, pies, and roasting.
Growing Cinderella Pumpkin
Give the large, sprawling vines ample room at about 4 to 6 feet between plants, and expect roughly 95 to 110 days to maturity. The heavy, flattened fruit benefits from a board or mulch underneath to prevent ground rot, and even moisture supports good size and color. Harvest when the rind has turned its deep red-orange and hardened, cutting with a portion of stem attached.
