About Baby Bear
Baby Bear is a hybrid pie pumpkin and an All-America Selections winner, producing small, slightly flattened fruit of about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds with a long, decorative handle. The smooth orange flesh is sweet and good for baking, while the fruit is small and light enough for children to carry and decorate. Many plants also yield semi-hulless seeds that are easy to roast.
Growing Baby Bear Pumpkin
The vines are semi-vining and fairly manageable, so space plants about 3 feet apart and allow roughly 100 to 105 days to maturity. It sets numerous fruit, so consistent feeding and watering help all of them size up well. Harvest when the pumpkins are fully orange with a firm rind and a dry stem, keeping the long handle attached since it is part of the appeal.
