About Spanish Roja

Spanish Roja is a rocambole hardneck with purple-tinged wrappers, easy-peeling cloves, and a rich, complex flavor. It is excellent for fresh kitchen use, though it usually does not store as long as softnecks or some porcelains.

Growing Spanish Roja Garlic

Plant in fall and mulch well, especially in colder climates, because rocamboles like good winter conditions but can be less forgiving of stress. Remove scapes, harvest promptly once lower leaves brown, and plan to use this variety earlier in the storage season.
