About Cocozelle
Cocozelle is an Italian heirloom, sometimes sold as Cocozelle di Napoli, known for long, slender fruit marked with alternating light and dark green longitudinal stripes. The firm, flavorful flesh holds up well to slicing and grilling, and the plant has a bushy, somewhat sprawling habit.
Growing Cocozelle Zucchini
Give it a bit more room than compact bush types, around 3 feet, since the plants can sprawl. The striped fruit is best picked young at 6 to 8 inches, as texture and flavor decline once it gets large. Check plants daily during peak season because the fruit sizes up quickly.
