About Gigante

Gigante is a large heirloom storage kohlrabi that can become very big without turning woody as quickly as ordinary table strains. The flesh stays mild, sweet, and useful for slaws, soups, and storage use.

Growing Gigante Kohlrabi

Sow for a fall crop and give it room, because this is not a small quick kohlrabi. Let bulbs size well beyond table-stage kohlrabi, but keep the crop growing evenly, and peel the thicker outer layer at harvest for the best interior quality.
