About Windsor
Windsor is a traditional broad bean with sturdy plants and broad pods holding large green shell beans that dry tan. It is a cool-season variety with good eating quality, but it does not enjoy hot weather once spring turns warm.
Growing Windsor Fava Bean
Sow very early in spring, or in fall where winters are mild, and support plants if wind is a problem. Harvest young pods for tender fresh beans, or let pods fill fully for shelling, and pinch out the tops if black aphids become troublesome.
