About Colossal

Colossal is a Japanese-European hybrid chestnut grown for very large, attractive nuts and good productivity. It has useful chestnut-blight resistance but is not immune to the disease.

Growing Colossal Chestnut

Plant Colossal with compatible chestnut pollinizers, as it is not self-fertile and is a poor pollen source. Harvest when burs split naturally in fall, and avoid poorly drained sites because chestnuts are sensitive to root disease.
