How it works

The clear covering lets in sunlight and traps heat around the plants inside. The enclosure reduces wind exposure and can protect against light frost and cold rain. Because of its small volume, it warms rapidly and also cools rapidly, so conditions can change fast. Vent openings or partially open panels help manage excess heat and humidity.

Best for

Mini greenhouses are best for seedling trays, herbs, compact greens, and hardening off young plants. They are useful in early spring, late fall, or any time tender plants need a short period of added protection. They also suit gardeners with limited space or renters who need a movable option.

How to use it

Set the unit in a bright location with stable footing and enough air circulation around it. Arrange plants so taller ones do not block all the light from smaller ones. Open vents or doors during warm parts of the day and close them again before chilly nights. Move plants out gradually when outdoor conditions improve and they no longer need the enclosure.

Tips

Small enclosed spaces can overheat even when the outdoor air feels cool. Water needs may vary from shelf to shelf depending on light and airflow. Secure lightweight units well if exposed to gusty weather.
