Boom Sprayers
Boom sprayers apply liquid products evenly across a measured swath using a tank, pump, plumbing, and boom-mounted nozzles. On US small farms, they are used for pasture care, weed control, field-edge management, and some crop protection work.
What it does
A boom sprayer delivers herbicides, fertilizers, or other labeled liquids at a controlled rate over the target area. The boom helps maintain even coverage compared with spot spraying large areas by hand. It is commonly used on pastures, hay ground, food plots, and rowed areas where uniform application matters. Good results depend on calibration, nozzle choice, pressure, speed, and weather.
How to choose one
Choose by tank size, boom width, pump type, nozzle options, and how you plan to mount or pull the sprayer. Match the unit to your acreage, tractor capacity, and plumbing or electrical needs. Make sure replacement nozzles, strainers, hoses, and pump parts are easy to source. Used sprayers can be serviceable, but inspect the tank, pump, regulator, hoses, boom structure, and nozzle bodies carefully.
Cost, upkeep & safety
Costs vary with tank capacity, boom construction, and control features. Maintenance includes rinsing after use, winterizing, replacing worn nozzles, and checking hoses, filters, and seals. Safety is critical, so follow the product label, wear proper protective gear, read the operator manual, and ask the dealer about calibration and handling.
